THE STORY BEHIND VIXEN HAIR
ABOUT US
Growing up as a black girl, hair was always a part of my identity. My older sister use to braid my big afro, making sure my hair was always on point and when she had left for university I became my own hairdresser; this meant I had graduated from braiding my dolly’s synthetic hair to cornrowing my kinky crown; this is where my hair journey really began.
As I grew up I was always experimenting different hairstyle trends on myself, but it was the 'human' hair phase that was pivotal for me – yes dolls, before Vixen Hair I was rocking premium too, premium now and Remy Indian Hair! I thought this was the peak of hair until I got invited to a Brazilian hair pop store when I was 16 and realised what differentiated us ‘regular’ girls from the Naomi Campbells of life. I finally had hair I could wash, straighten, curl then reuse again? This was revolutionary!
As my passion for styling hair faded away, my obsession for good virgin hair was growing each day. This was when Aliexpress and YouTube tutorials just became a thing, and I was on my laptop every day after sixth form looking for the best vendor and watching YouTube reviews on them. Then the day came when I finally bought hair from Ali Express, the worst hair I had ever had in my life. I experienced so much shedding and tangling, I felt robbed, deceived and bamboozled. In hindsight, that dreadful experience was a blessing in disguise, because ever since that moment I’ve been in search of finding the best hair for myself and those around me. I’m finally at that place where I can walk down the street and get complimented on my hair, or go to an event and have people asking about my hair. There’s that confidence that you have when all eyes are on your hair for a good reason, and I love it!
This brings me to the birth of Vixen Hair. It was long overdue for me to become a luxury hair extensions distributor, but better late than never. It makes me happy that I have finally launched something that has been in the works for my entire life without me realising. It sounds corny, but I think one of my missions in life is to source good hair for people around the world. Whether you’re into silky straight, kinky, curly, wavy or blonde hair I’ve got you, and it’s time to unleash your inner Vixen - that alluring being hidden within you.
